This Ayat is known as the most famous verse of the Quran, the holy book of Muslims.

Ayat Al-Kursi (Arabic: yat ul-kursi) often known in English as The Throne Verse is the 255th verse of the 2nd surah of the Quran, Al-Baqarah.

The verse speaks about how nothing and nobody is regarded to be comparable to Allah.

This is one of the best-known verses of the Quran and is widely memorised and displayed in the Islamic world.

Text and translation edit Arabic Transliteration English translation 3 ar allhu l ilha ill huwa l-ayyu l-qayymu l tauuhu sinatun wa-l nawmun lahu m f s-samawti wa-m f l-ar man lla yafau indahu ill bi-inihi yalamu m bayna aydhim wa-m alfahum wa-l yuna bi-ayin min ilmihi ill bi-m shaa wa-sia kursiyyuhu s-samwti wa-l-ar.

Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth.

Who could intercede in His presence without His permission He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills.

His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them.

Ayat al-Kursi is regarded as one of the most powerful ayahs in the Quran because when it is recited, the greatness of God is believed to be confirmed.

It is stated in the hadith that one who recites Ayat al-Kursi will be under the protection of God for that night.

The reciter imagines him or herself walking through Ayat al-Kursi until reaching the centre, seeing what is in front and what is behind, and finds they represent a perfect reflection of each other.

This is flanked symmetrically outwards so that A corresponds to A, B corresponds to B, and so forth.
